1 lakh sq ft mall — as-built survey & drawing set

A measured as-built record of a closed 1 lakh sq ft mall awaiting renovation — interiors, facade, elevations and sections — delivered as a coordinated architectural drawing set inside a 20-day window.

The challenge

The mall had been shut for some time and was long overdue for renovation. A Mumbai architecture practice known for world-class MNC office interiors had won the redesign, but the available drawings no longer matched the building after years of fit-outs and tenant changes. They needed a complete, design-ready as-built of the complex exactly as it now stood — and they needed it in 20 days to hold their own design programme.

Our approach

We put surveyors, engineers and our in-house architects on site as one team rather than in sequence. Total Station control was carried through every floor, so each level tied back to a single framework instead of being taped floor by floor in isolation. Interior detail and the facade were picked up against that same control, reflectorless where heights and projections could not be reached. Drafting ran alongside the fieldwork — each floor was modelled in CAD while the next was being measured, so the client's questions were answered during the survey, not weeks after it.

The outcome

A coordinated architectural set delivered inside the 20-day window: as-built floor plans for the full 1 lakh sq ft, internal and external elevations, sections through the interiors and the facade, and levels tied to one control framework. The practice could take it straight into design rather than re-measuring anything, and told us the set matched the standard they work to on their own projects.
